Homeowners are always trying to make impactful changes without breaking the bank. A simple way to drastically refresh an old kitchen is by updating cabinet doors and drawer fronts. One major manufacturer of kitchen and bathroom cabinets ships approximately 600,000 cabinet doors and drawers each year for residential rehab projects.
The Problem
Business was booming. So were damages. The company followed an industry-standard packing process, placing doors on die-cut corrugated inserts and securing them with straps. The lack of cushioning material was causing surface abrasion and crushing corners when the cabinet doors were subjected to vibration during parcel transit. (The company’s procurement department had been tasked with driving down packaging material cost, a contributor to product damage.)
